Procedures and Guidelines:
Step 1: Review the literature providing regarding the benefits of sport participation in high schools: http://www.highschoolsportszone.com/2011/05/21/importance-of-sports-in-high-schools/.
Step 2: Watch this video regarding the importance of sports in schools: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdwfj5cz_9w. After viewing the video, write down a one page reflection about your thoughts and feelings on the video. Consider there may be information in the video you can use in your argument later on when your group complies a persuasive presentation.
Step 3: Research various sports you and your group are considering to add to your school. Use the links provided in the resources tab to find out more information regarding your chosen sport and to provide support as to why adding this support would be beneficial to your school and the local community. Write down your reasons in bullet points. Below those points, further elaborate on these reasons to explain why you chose the sport you and your group did.
Step 4: Research the cost of adding this sport to your school (i.e. equipment, uniforms, safety, etc.) Develop a plan for a successful fundraiser your group would hold in order to obtain the funds for adding the sport to your school.
Step 5: Create a powerpoint presentation that you will present to your school board at their next meeting regarding your chosen sport for your high school. Your presentation should run 5 minutes long and include various graphics, such as pictures and different forms of data representation, such as charts and tables, to support your argument. Be creative! You want to sell your audience to convince them that your chosen sport is the one for your school! Be sure to check that correct spelling and proper grammar is displayed throughout your presentation.
Step 6: Upon completion of your presentation, record your presentation with your group and upload your slideshow to YouTube.
